The contest in the 19th Congressional District has been one of the most-watched in the country for the last three election cycles. It's almost been one of the most expensive. This year with Rep. Chris Gibson not seeking election, Teachout and Faso emerged victorious in their June primary battles.
Teachout, you may remember, performed surprisingly well when she challenged fellow Democrat Andrew Cuomo in the 2014 gubernatorial primary, capturing a third of the vote. Republican John Faso served in the New York State Assembly for many years before running and losing to Eliot Spitzer in the 2006 race for governor.
