Aaron Price, the leader of the movement, says the idea is not far-fetched and today marks the beginning of a push to either join the state of Pennsylvania or split the downstate region, south of where the MTA has service, into its own entity. The new upstate region, "New Amsterdam" as they would call it, would be the result of the split.
