Republicans have been hearing it for years. No one from the party has won a statewide race since George Pataki claimed a third term in 2002.
Expect to hear it a lot more in 2018.
Pataki was in the Albany area to speak at the annual Conservative Conference. He talked about the parallels during his initial run for governor in 1994 and what the GOP is looking at this time around. So far three little-known (statewide at least) candidates are trying to topple a well-known Governo Cuomo with little initial money, compared to the $30 million warchest for the incumbent.
Watch more of our interview with Governor Pataki this weekend on your local PBS station or right here at NYNOW.org after Friday 3:330pm.
