This week we learned that the Independent Democratic Conference, who broke away from the rest of the Democrats after the 2010 elections, will form a coalition government with the GOP. Bronx State Senator Jeff Klein, the head of the IDC, will share the title of president with current Majority Leader Dean Skelos when the legislative session begins in 2013.
Klein's fellow state senator from the Bronx, Ruben Diaz, tells us this weekend he feels vindicated by the IDC's move. Diaz was part of a controversial group labeled the "Four Amigos" in 2008-09 that some accused of making a power grab as the newly-elected Democrats took control of the chamber. He also tells us the IDC has not faced the same criticism because, unlike the "Amigos," they are not mostly Hispanic or African-American. Watch the complete interview here.
