This week marks the 23rd Annual Adirondack Research Consortium in Lake Placid. The focus will be on energy, water quality, climate change and the economy inside the Blue Line.
With that in mind, we thought it would be a good week to welcome in Dave Gibson and Dan Plumley of Adirondack Wild: Friends of the Forest Preserve to discuss a number of controversial issues that have been going on in the park for a number of years.
We'll discuss the recent approval by Governor Cuomo of a plan to rip up the train tracks from Lake Placid to Tupper Lake and to rehabilitate the little used portion that runs from just north of Old Forge to the Tri-Lakes area.
In the interview, Plumley criticizes the governor for some of the compromises that he's negotiated between opposing sides on issues like this one and the recent approval of the new outdoorrecreationalactivities in the Essex Chain of Lakes.
