Three of the four Republican state senators who voted ‘yes’ on same-sex marriage chose to run for reelection. Mark Grisanti of North Buffalo easily won his primary battle, but Roy McDonald from the Saratoga region and Steve Saland from Poughkeepsie had tougher fights.  McDonald lost his matchup versus Kathy Marchione, while Saland edged out his opponent, Neil DiCarlo.

Also, we debate what the primary results mean from a statewide and national perspective at our Reporters Roundtable with Ken Lovett of the Daily News and Dave Lombardo of the Daily Gazette.
