Governor Cuomo's upstate economic development plans took a hit in September when U.S. District Attorney Preet Bharara announced corruption charges against nine individuals involved in an alleged bribery and kickback scheme.

Dr. Alain Kaloyeros, the now former head of SUNY Polytechnic Institute, was among those charged. He resigned his post days later.  After the revealing of the federal charges, Cuomo handed the reigns to these multiple economic initiatives to Empire State Development.

This week Howard Zemsky, ESD's President and CEO, sits down with us for the first time to discuss the agency's new role, including a progress report on the expensive and controversial Solar City project in Buffalo.
