The 2022 Race for New York Governor

Gov. Kathy Hochul has raised $10 million in her run for governor since she filed to run for a full term in August, her campaign said Friday.

That’s a huge chunk of change, considering former Gov. Andrew Cuomo had $18 million in the bank when he resigned, and that was after fundraising each cycle since 2010.

Hochul’s campaign had aimed to raise $10 million by the end of the year, putting her ahead of schedule. She currently has $11.1 million cash on hand, after raising a total of $12 million this cycle.

She’s received donations from people living in each of New York’s 62 counties, according to the campaign.

It’s a major haul compared to where Hochul was in July. At the time, she reported having $1.7 million in cash on hand. Her only declared opponent at this point, New York Attorney General Letitia James, reported having $1.6 million on hand at the same time.

Candidates disclose their finances at certain times each year, notably in January and July, so there should be a clearer picture of James’ finances in the coming months.
