Election Day is over and there were certainly some surprises in the Empire State.
Democrats across the country pulled off some huge wins and they did in key county executive races in New York, too. Most notably 2014 GOP Nominee for governor Rob Astorino, seeking his third term, was easily defeated by State Senator George Latimer in Westchester. Nassau County, another big suburban area, saw Democrat Laura Curran defeat Republican Jack Martins.
