Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Friday he’s standing by former Vice President Joe Biden after the presidential contender denied allegations of sexual assault levied against him by Tara Reade, a former staffer in the U.S. Senate.
Biden denied the allegations in an interview on MSNBC's Morning Joe Friday morning.
Cuomo said during an interview on public radio in the afternoon that he trusts Biden at his word.
“Joe Biden denies it. Obviously he’s done that already. You’ve had media reports on it. I think it’s one of those issues that it’s going to be up to people to decide,” Cuomo said.
“For myself, I’ve known Joe Biden a lot of years. He has always been straightforward and true to his word. So, I accept his word,” he continued.
Cuomo hasn’t formally endorsed Biden in the election, but has made his preference clear in previous statements.
