The Reporters Roundtable discusses the awkward WEA moment for Governor Cuomo

Email share

This week at the press conference outlining his ten point Women's Equality Act (WEA), Governor Andrew Cuomo sat with a coalition of female leaders on the issue. Overshadowing this proud announcement for the governor, however, was the recent sexual harassment scandal involving former Assemblyman Vito Lopez and the secret settlement OK'd by Speaker Sheldon Silver. Cuomo called for Lopez to step down, but says it's not his place to do the same for Silver.

Cuomo was asked about this by reporters in the Red Room.  Ken Lovett of The Daily News asked the assembled women if there was a "contradiction on the zero tolerance of sexual harassment" in this case.  It led to an awkward moment.  Click here to watch the entire discussion on New York NOW.
