Fiala, Akshar square off in senate debate
There's only one state senate race going on during this quiet election season and because of that it has drawn a lot of attention.
The candidates, Democrat Barbara Fiala and Republican Fred Akshar, participated in their only televised debate Thursday night in the Binghamton studio of our PBS affiliate WSKG. Moderator Charles Compton asked questions, along with some from constituents watching in the Southern Tier, that ranged from gun control and women's right issues to the negative campaigning seen throughout the district, the latter of which you can see in our clip above.
UPDATE - Akshar cruised to an easy victory over Fiala.
