Former DEC Commissioner John Cahill announced this week that he will challenge Attorney General Eric Schneiderman in the fall.  Crisscrossing upstate, the Yonkers native stopped in Albany this afternoon where he promised to be an advocate for the people and expressed his support for "smartly developing" hydrofracking in the state.

In the preview clip above, the Republican vowed to uphold the laws of the constitution of the United States, including the right for a woman to choose and supporting gay marriage in the state, which passed here in New York in 2011.   He said he's running as an attorney and not a lawmaker.

Cahill is expected to be nominated this Thursday at the GOP State Convention in Westchester County.
