This week on NYN: Back to school issues

Email share

Most kids across the state began a new school year this week. So, it's a perfect time to discuss the most pressing issues facing students, parents, and teachers as they begin the 2019-2020 year.

Tim Kremer, the longtime executive director at the New York State School Boards Association, joins us in-studio as we look back at bills passed and signed into into law during the year and how it will affect students going forward. We'll look at everything from the "Red Flag"Law to busses that will eventually be equipped with stop-arm technology.

Also, how will the Child Victims Act affect local schools? What concerns does Kremer have about the "public charge"label that will take effect next month?

Join us this weekend on your localPBS station.
