Gov. Andrew Cuomo addresses the press

Governor Andrew Cuomo has had a rough first half of 2015.

The death of his father, his girlfriend Sandra Lee's cancer diagnosis and his worst poll numbers since taking office have undoubtedly taken a toll.   The personal struggles, we can assume, is one reason why the governor has made himself unavailable to the Capitol press for much of the last three months.   Today, Cuomo made a rare appearance outside the Capitol building in support of NYC firefighters and police officers seeking "real disability protections."

After his speech, the governor spent a little over twelve minutes with the Capitol press.  Watch the clip above to hear the governor speak on the rally, the ongoing manhunt for the escaped prisoners in the North Country, and end-of-session issues.
