Jeff Klein on the future of the Senate Democrats

Email share

Yesterday Governor Andrew Cuomo said he hopes the "reunification" of the senate Democrats happens next year.   Right now a breakaway group of five that co-govern the chamber along with the Republicans are caught in the middle of Cuomo's new desire to have his party control the state senate.

Jeff Klein is the leader of the Independent Democratic Conference and the man who is the co-majority leader of the chamber along with Republican Dean Skelos.  He faces a primary this September.   He spoke to a few members of the press about the governor's statement yesterday.   According to Klein, "it can't be just the Democratic majority, it has to be a majority of Democrats" to get the governor's agenda passed.
