GOP Leader defends bringing gun bill to floor

The leader of the Senate Republicans, Dean Skelos, has been under fire from opponents of the NYSAFE Act. The passage of the stricter gun control bill has angered many and Skelos was criticized publicly at the rally in Albany last Thursday, that drew over five thousand people, for bringing the bill to the floor for a vote.

Today, at a press conference announcing proposals that would bring tax relief to middle class families, the longtime Long Island Senator was asked by Jimmy Vielkind of the Times Union about the call by Rochester Assemblyman Bill Nojay for him to step down as leader. Skelos claimed he did know the lawmaker and defended his decision to bring the NYSAFE Act up for a vote.
