Karen DeWitt talks with Senator Mike Gianaris

While the New York State Senate was set to swear-in a new majority leader, Mike Gianaris (D-Astoria) stood up to remind everyone that this was not a celebratory moment

John Flanagan (R-East Northport) of Long Island took over the leadership post after Dean Skelos stepped down due to mounting pressure from his arrest on corruption charges.  The result has been inaction on a number of important matters as the legislative session clock winds down.

Gianaris sat down with our Karen DeWitt to discuss the recent scandal, the continuing controversy over education policy and his conference's relationship with Governor Andrew Cuomo. Watch the full interview above.
