Conference Leader Sampson, Democrats 'won't be outworked'

Posted by Matt Ryan on

As we have documented for the last few years, the majority in the state senate is a slim one.  Currently, the Republicans have a one seat lead, but have a massive campaign war chest advantage compared to their rival Democrats.  This week we sat down with the Conference Leader for the minority, Brooklyn Senator John Sampson, where he discussed top issues and his goal to reclaim the Senate Majority. Experts analyze Sampson's goals for the Democrats and discuss the challenges they face including a strained relationship with Gov. Cuomo.

Also in this episode, Innovation Trail reporter, Marie Cusick, showcases President Obama's visit to the University at Albany's College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering. The school and research center was the ideal backdrop for Obama's speech where he noted that the Capital Region's high-tech economy should serve as a model for the nation. Our experts discuss the President's visit as well as whether Gov. Cuomo may have influenced his decision to announce his support of same-sex marriage the day after his visit to Albany.
