From jail to the 'Great Outdoors'

This week PBS and NPR stations across the state are focusing on the opioid epidemic in New York.

Our feature story highlights a diversion program run by the Glens Falls Hospital Center for Discovery and the Council for Prevention.  The goal is to get those who are suffering from an opioid addiction out of the criminal justice system, into treatment, and help reduce the days spent behind bars.

Also, our Mountain Lake PBS colleague Thom Hallock goes one-on-one with Congresswoman Elise Stefanik.  The North Country representative was the youngest woman elected to the House of Representatives back in 2014 and faces Democrat Tedra Cobb and Green Party nominee Lynn Kahn this November.

Tune in this week on your local PBS station.
