Encouraging healthy eating

Last Updated by Jenna Flanagan on

Children can be picky eaters but area organizations have found that the earlier you introduce a child to new foods, especially fruits and vegetables, the more encouraged a child will be to eat new things.

The Capital District Childcare Center facilitates a Farm to Preschool which provides healthy, local foods for children. Capital Roots, through programs like the Veggie Mobile, also puts kids on a good nutritional path.

This special report is part of an ongoing public media reporting initiative called 'Chasing the Dream: Poverty and Opportunity in America' which provides a deeper understanding of the impact of poverty on American society. Major funding for this initiative is provided by The JPB Foundation. Additional funding is provided by Ford Foundation.
